Market assessment for Amhara and Oromia

Market assessment for Amhara and Oromia

This assessment, undertaken in 2014, develops a clear picture of how market mechanisms were working in access to finance, rural land rental, and environment and conservation agriculture markets in the regional states of Amhara and Oromia prior to LIFT’s interventions. It outlines the constraints that prevented smallholder farmers from benefitting from these markets, identifies opportunities and suggests a list of feasible interventions to maximise the positive impact of increased tenure security. The assessment also focuses on constraints faced by vulnerable groups, including women and girls, the elderly and people living with disabilities.
